An El Camino photography professor of over 20 years at El Camino died on Saturday, May 28 of undisclosed causes.
The news of the Susan Ste. Marie’s death broke on Sunday, May 29 when fellow EC photography professor, Darilyn Rowan, wrote an “In Memoriam” on her “Art and Photography” blog.
“It is with enormous sadness that I share the news of El Camino College Photography Department instructor Susan Ste. Marie’s death on Saturday, May 28th 2016,” the blog read. “Susan was revered by her current and former students for her commitment to teaching, and her talent, compassion and brilliance. The legacy of her teaching will be continued in Photography 202 and Photography 203 this coming year.”
In addition to being a “remarkable and gifted colleague and friend,” Rowan also described Marie’s commitment to her teaching.
“Susan had a combination of devotion, compassion and expertise that inspired her students for over 20 years to reach for their goals,” Rowan said.
According to Rowan’s blog, Marie’s family are planning private services for the professor in Pennsylvania.
