According to Boston University, More than 79 million students across the United States cram in textbooks, binders, notebook computers, pencils, pens, erasers, craft supplies, lunches, extra clothes for gym class, and make the trek to school. Choosing the right school bag is important to remain organized, comfortable, and fashionable.

Christine Huston, 19, communication major said these tote bags are small enough to carry and go with her outfits. Canvas tote bags are stylish for students to take to the library, class and next study session.
2. Slouchy Bag
Slouchy bags are the newest bag trends. These hand bags made of different soft materials, suede or leather, are comfortable to carry. Celebrities have been spotted wearing these bags more frequently in 2025, according to Vogue. Slouchy bags can be paired with any students’ outfit creating an effortless look. These bags are mostly oversized, which is great for student materials. Stacy Wilkinson, 19, psychology major said her bag is spacious and cute. They can be found in various locations including Target, H&M for under $40.
3. Jansport Backpack
The Jansport backpack, a classic backpack, is popular amongst students at El Camino College. The Jansport backpack is protective, Stephen Treutlein, 20, mechanical engineering major said. Students can rely on the Jansport backpack for everyday use.
The backpack is durable and made from Polyester fabric. The backpack’s reputation and quality explain its cost, $35 to $75.
4. Cotton Tote Bag
Cotton tote bags are a staple in students’ wardrobe. “Tote bags are great for school because they are easy to carry, fashionable, and fit all the essentials you need for class,” Bethany Melgar, 22, nursing major said. These eco-friendly bags are favored by students because of their price, comfort, lightweight and durability. Amazon, Target, and department stores sell cotton tote bags for low prices. Prices vary between $10 to $40.
5. Northface
The Northface backpack, a classic backpack, is perfect for all kinds of students, including athletes. The backpack can carry up to 15 inch laptops and up to 30 liter bottles. Its multiple compartments make it easier for students to remain organized and its light weight design keeps students feeling comfortable throughout the school day. North Face backpacks cost $75 to $100.
