While a few scientists await a subtle aurora in the middle of nowhere, a glorious tornado like lightning storm shoots down from the sky. Attempting to capture it on film, the scientists crash into a man, and begin to question, “Where did he come from?”
With an engaging plot, striking visuals, and compelling performances by all actors involved, “Thor” is not only a great movie, but the definition of impressive 3D.
Based on the comic book by Stan Lee the fictional superhero, “Thor,” is directed by Kenneth Branagh, has plenty of action scenes, courageous heroes fighting giant eerie monsters, and mythical worlds that are sure to make it one of the biggest movies of the year.
Chris Hemsworth, in his first big role, stars as Thor the arrogant god of thunder who’s heir to his father’s throne, and his love interest, master physicist Jane Foster, is played by the brilliant, Natalie Portman. Loki, Thor’s devious brother is portrayed by Tom Hiddleston, and Anthony Hopkins plays Odin, Thor’s father and King of Asgard. Some minor characters include Jane’s mentor Dr.Selvig, played by Stellan Skarsgard, and Darcy Lewis, Jane’s assistant played by Kat Dennings.
After defying his father’s orders Thor is immediatly banished from Asgard and sent to Earth where Jane, Dr. Selvig and Darcy nearly run him over. Thor is now stranded on this foreign planet, no longer the god of thunder, but a mere human with no idea of how to return home or his brother’s malicious intentions.
“Thor” is just like any other big budget comic book movie, awesome.
