Seemingly taken right out of the mind of the great, late, John Hughes, Will Gluck’s “Easy A” delivers, laughs, heart, and most importantly a fresh look on teen high school comedies.
Emma Stone, stars along an ensemble cast featuring: Amanda Bynes, and, Stanley Tucci, Thomas Haden Church, and “Gossip Girl” leading man Penn Badgley. This is also Director Will Gluck’s second feature film, the first being, 2009’s, “Fired Up.”
“Easy A” is the story of how Olive Penderghast’s (Emma Stone) life is turned upside down by a single lie.
What’s great about “Easy A” is it takes you back to that place some of look back now and laugh at, high school. It might feel like yesterday or years ago since you step foot in a high school, but you get that feeling that the plot is not to out of this world. These are the characters we remember from high school, the slut, the ditsy blonde, the cool English teacher. This is a film that understands our text-crazed, tech-savvy, generation.
One thing that may shy guys away from this movie is that they might have an idea that “Easy A” chick flick. It may deal with some feminine issues, but it does not make it a chick flick, but because of this, “Easy A” is a great choice for a date movie.
Comedies are very rare right now, so if you’re looking for a night at the movies, this is one of your only choices, luckily for you, it’s a good one.
