Among participating in extra-
curricular activities, school, and
work, Jessica Lesure sure has a lot
going for herself.
“When you really want to do
stuff, you do it. It’s having your pri-
orities straight,” Lesure, chemistry
major, 20, said.
Since Lesure is on the cheerlead-
ing squad at EC, she dedicates her
time to being a part of the team.
“I am dedicated to cheer because it
is something that I am good at and
have done for eight years now. I work
with other people and I get different
people’s ideas,” Lesure said.
Since Lesure’s brother played Pop
Warner Football, it inspired her to
become a cheerleader.
“I tried it and I liked it. I like to
compete and be in front of people,”
Lesure said.
Not only does being a cheerlead-
er, being a chemistry major, working,
and doing extra work for movies in-
terest Lesure, she also wants to help
people.
“Ever since I was young, I liked
to help people. So many bad things
happened to kids in high school so I
want to be a doctor, and somewhere
down the line I would like to be a
counselor,” Lesure said.
“I would like to be a youth coun-
selor at a school, or at the Boys and
Girls club and help mentor teenag-
ers by taking the negative and
turning it to the positive,” Le-
sure said.
For the eight years that Lesure
has been cheerleading, it has also
opened her to different opportuni-
ties, such as doing extra work in
movies.
Lesure and the 2008-2009 EC
cheer squad were recently extras in
the new “Bring It On: Fight to the
Finish” movie.
“While at cheer camp our coach
received an e-mail saying that our
squad was considered for extras. We
also did stunts for the movie,” said
Lesure.
“It was almost like being in a real
competition,” she said. “It was really
exciting.”
Lesure said that seeing
everything first hand, see-
ing the process of how the
movie is made, and meeting
Chrisitina Milian was what
she liked best.
“It’s not easy being there
all day,” Lesure said. “It’s a lot
of hard work.”
Another movie that Le-
sure will be doing extra work
in will be the new “Twilight”
movie.
“I was on the computer
searching for extra work. Plus
I love the movie Twilight,”
Lesure said. “I also thought
since I did extra work once before,
why not do it again.”
