Long lines of excited and impatient people waited for the opening of “Watchmen,” directed by Zack Snyder. The following talented artists starring in the film are: Malin Akerman, Billy Crudup, Matthew Goode, Carla Gugino, Jackie Earle Haley, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, and Patrick Wilson.
The film concentrates around the theme of good and evil in humanity, as well as the U.S. and their tension with the Soviet Union who threatens nuclear war upon them.
This is not your ordinary superhero movie; it is definitely not in the same category as “Batman,” or “Superman.”
“Watchmen” is based on its graphic-novel form. Many people think that film viewers must read the novel to be able to watch it, but that’s not true. In fact, you don’t even have to be into comics to enjoy this film.
These superheroes were outlawed and forced into retirement. Some of them decided to protect their identity while others didn’t. Those that refused to hide their identity aided the government whenever help was needed.
“Watchmen” had a great storyline that delivered to the audience; however, there was not much character development throughout the film. Although, characters like Rorschach were unforgettable.
Rorschach, played by Haley, can safely be said to be the leading star of the movie as well as the creepiest of the Watchmen team. Haley gave the audience a phenomenal performance from beginning to end. Certain comments he made throughout the film made the audience cheer, laugh out loud, and roar into applause.
When Rorschach is imprisoned with his adversaries, he tells them, “I’m not locked in here with you, you’re locked in here with me,” the audience cheered!
“Watchmen” suffered a bit whenever there was more dialogue than action, but the action that they did give to the audience was outstanding.
If you like watching bones being snapped, arms being sliced-off, and people getting blown into pieces, then “Watchmen” is the film to watch.
