Recent floods in the Ticket Box Office at Marsee Auditorium are to blame for its recent relocation to the Campus Theatre.
“An old pipe burst, which caused a flood in our box office and lobby and so we had to temporarily relocate,” Barbara Riser, theater manager, said
Signs directing students and customers to its new location are displayed from Marsee Auditorium’s Ticket Box Office leading all the way to the two ticket windows of the Campus Theatre.
“Hopefully, we have properly placed signage to direct customers to our new location,” Riser said. “We have also made phone changes to our system to let customers know of the change.”
Because of the short distance between both venues, some students do not seem to be affected by the relocation.
“It’s not a big walk from Marsee to the Campus Theatre so it’s really not that bad,” Gamelle Queen, 21, said.
“I don’t mind the change and it’s not like you have to walk a great distance to get to the new box office,” Abril Contreras, 23-year-old theater patron, said. “As long as there are signs posted telling me where I have to go, I don’t have any issues with the change.”
Despite the short distance between both theaters, some find the move inconvenient.
“It’s more convenient having the two separated from each other to avoid any confusion as to where you are supposed to go,” Queen said.
The facilities department has been contacted and repairs to replace the broken water pipes are underway.
“They are working on getting us new carpet and painting the walls so we should, hopefully, be back by spring break,” Riser said.
With all the havoc behind the scenes, students and other customers may be reassured that the Ticket Box Office hours remain the same; Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Students who need additional information may contact the Ticket Office at (310) 329-5345.
