Vibrant art, exciting stories, vivid photography and imaginative poetry may be featured in the Myriad our college journal, as long as the student editors receive student submissions by the April 23 deadline.
This is the first time in 10 years that the Myriad has been organized and edited by students.
Years before, instructors such as Sheila Finch, Adrienne Sharp, and Peter Marcoux were in charge of putting the journal together.
This year, however, it is the students who are running the show.
“It’s a student journal. Why not have students experience the whole thing?” Marcoux said.
Marcoux, who has been involved with the Myriad for the past four years, teaches the English 98 course, where students may learn how to put the journal together from cover to cover.
Low enrollment was the reason why the class has not been offered in a decade Marcoux said.
“This is a great class; I look forward to teaching this class,” Marcoux said.
The Myriad is a forum where the students may express their creativity, Marcoux said.
“It’s to show what we can do and show a myriad of different voices, which is why we called it the Myriad,” Dana Campbell, 27, English major, said.
“I think we will influence the journal greatly because we have different skills,” America Almazan, 22, Spanish major, said.
Interested students may submit their works to the Humanities Office in Room 201 in the Communications building. They may also submit them online at [email protected].
“We want everyone who does something creative to submit (their work) to the Myriad,” Campbell said.
