Men’s tennis loses season opener

Tennis is back in full swing for the Warriors. For the men’s tennis team there was no place better to start out then at a game here on campus.

The opponents were the champion Lasers of Irvine Valley College who came ready to play with fire in their eyes and determination in their hearts. As pumped up as the Warriors were, the skills on the court were nearly on par with the Lasers.

The Warriors tennis team came up short losing to the Lasers 8-1, the one win coming from singles competition. That game went to three sets (1-6, 7-6, 10-8) in which the Warriors’ Whitney Reed rallied back in the second and won in the third.

The best second match was a doubles match that went down to the wire. The Lasers and the Warriors’ score was close but a double fault caused a bit of trouble for EC. The Warriors lost in one straight set 8-6.

The next home game is Tuesday Feb. 3, 2015 at 2 p.m.
