Javier Molina had something to be proud of after losses this past weekend.
Even though the men’s water polo team finished its season with a dismal 6-15 record, Molina continued to extend his EC career assists record by 14 over previous record holder, Ryan Price.
The men ended up finishing fifth in the South Coast conference after splitting this weekend in a 16-9 loss against Chaffey and a 15-5 victory over L.A. Trade Tech.
“We hit a rough patch in our last tournament,” Noah Rubke said. “This carried over into our conference game against Chaffey.”
With a lot of calls going against them, the men were unable to come back against Chaffey.
“We were just getting called for a ton of offensive fouls,” Rubke said. “We weren’t able to change our game plan accordingly.”
Corey Stanbury, coach, said Javier Molina and Noah Rubke have been the team’s top performers.
“They improved a lot,” Stanbury said. “We played well against teams that had more talent than we did.”
The women’s water polo they finished the season with a win.
They defeated L.A. Trade Tech 19-5 to finish with a 2-22 record for the season.
Stanbury said that Kristie Wand and Julie Bower were the women’s top performers.
Wand finished the season with 85 goals, which was second best in the state.
“Now, we will start training to get faster and stay in shape for next year,” Stanbury said.
