Fox’s “Glee” and CBS’s “Smash” have popularized musicals on TV and now Universal Picture’s “Pitch Perfect” continues to do so on the big screen.
College freshman Beca enlist in an all girl a cappella group in this nonstop laugh-out-loud film.
Promising her father she will give college social life a try, out casted disc jockey Beca, joins the Barden Bellas discovering herself along the way.
Anna Kendrick, most known for her role as Jessica in the “Twilight” film series, stars as ambitioned DJ Beca, expanding her on screen talent to include singing.
Scene stealing Rebel Wilson, most known as the crazy outspoken roommate sister from the film “Bridesmaids,” outshines Kendrick as Fat Amy.
“I’m not living life if I’m not 100 percent honest, my name may not be Fat Amy, but more like Fat Patricia,” Wilson says as Fat Amy in an honesty exercise.
Truly a parody of school glee groups, this comedic film contains hilarious one-liners and sarcastic humor.
The musical selection of mash-ups is not any different from how the music is structured in Fox’s “Glee” and the music choice stays with songs that can be heard on the radio playing today’s top 40. Rated PG-13 the film also contains use of foul language.
A surprisingly good fall film, “Pitch Perfect” is suitable for a night out with friends or a perfect date movie. “Pitch Perfect” is now playing in theaters everywhere.
