As promised, change is set to come with President Obama making a decision to pull our troops from Iraq.
This a great thing seeing as how our focus for what we were actually doing in Iraq for the last eight years has been clouded.
The president plans to split in half 150,000 troops that have served in Iraq.
About 50,000 will stay in Iraq for security purposes as well as training and assisting Iraqi families.
Other soldiers will transfer locations to Afghanistan where the environment, the president believes, is more unsteady.
After more than 4,200 deaths and $657 billion dollars spent, this seems like the right thing to do. Our soldiers will be honored with the opportunity to finally return home.
This is a real change for the people, whether good or bad. We’ve all seen that the operations of the last eight years have not worked in anybody’s favor.
Trying something new is the only way to find new ways for military strategy that will boost confidence for the people as well as our soldiers.
Obama’s Republican party opponent, John McCain, said that the president’s new move was reasonable. With Iraqi generals and ambassadors backing the military strategy, McCain said he felt that this move would be better for the security of the Iraqi people, making them self reliant.
Many troops were happy to know that they were making a critical decision and a strategic change in operations.
This move will greatly impact the president’s legacy and provides more opportunities for the nation as a whole.
What is most important is the fact that it can change our finances and the country really needs a way to save money and deliver.
The truth of the matter is we should have never been in Iraq in the first place.
Where former President George W. Bush said that he wouldn’t accept anything but “complete and final victory,” for the war in Iraq, according to a New York times article, it is clear that this victory is now nothing but wishful thinking. His goal was to bring the troops out by 2011 as well, but who knows if that was true or not.
The reason why war chances are higher in the Middle East is because Bush made promises that we as a country couldn’t keep.
This new move is great because it’s a step forward in the direction of having the war soon come to an end.
In going to war we lost troops. Nothing more has benefited the U.S. in fighting these pointless wars.
