Last semester, the Inter-club Council provided for the clubs on campus excellent advisory, social and economic support despite having a rough transition from the fall to spring semester 2009-2010.
Going into spring semester, Ana Safazada, former council president, experienced difficulty as her cabinet had somewhat dwindled down to just her due to the respective cabinet members lifestyle demand changes, a common element among many college students.
Despite the loss, Ana Safazada managed to form a cohesive cabinet consisting of mostly new-comers to student government and pressed forth in providing support to the clubs at EC, fulfilling the spring 2010 Inter-club Council commitment to successfully support the clubs.
At the end of spring, the Inter-Club Council had elections for the following academic year. Nicholas Mitchell was appointed president of the organization while Damien Mcdowell and Lilly Kurosaki were appointed to vice president and commissioner of publicity respectively.
The newly formed cabinet consisted of members from both the prior cabinet and cabinet members from other clubs on campus, and they immediately began plans for the coming year.
Having witnessed the actions and consequences of the prior cabinet, the new cabinet is experienced and ready for the new semester. Some goals laid out by Inter-club Council for this semester include a better relationship with the Associated Students Organization, improving on publicity from Inter-club Council, and at its core, getting more students involved with clubs and other extracurricular activities.
Right off the bat is Club Rush, an event that takes place every semester themed on club awareness.
Hosting the event, the Inter-Club Council will provide clubs and groups with tables, chairs and lots of balloons. A table will even be set up advertising Inter-club Council.
Inter-club Council hopes to make this academic year a fun one. On Sept. 24 is the Inter-Club Council Club Mixer, another event traditionally held by Inter-club Council every semester which aims at getting the clubs acquainted with one another.
Ice breakers take place and club members get to mingle with one another. Several other events are still in the works such as the Blood Mobile and Homecoming, both of which Inter-club Council will be working tirelessly on in the upcoming months.
