Being in the public eye seems to have no bearing on whether a celebrity knows when to keep his or her mouth shut.
Perhaps some celebrities think that they can do whatever they want because they have the power and the fame, or they simply just want attention.
The sad thing is, in recent days the celebrities having a conniption are mainly black.
But the question is: Is race a factor when pertaining to celebrity verbal blunders?
No, these people just have no home training. Seeing as though the people who are making the majority of the tirades happen to be black, some people can’t help but look at race as the issue causing other blacks to look bad in comparison.
The L.A. Times reported an incident Saturday with Serena Williams at the U.S. Open in New York City regarding an outburst she made towards a lineswoman.
The lineswoman called a foot fault on Williams, causing her to become irate and serve several insults in return.
Her temper tantrum not only cost her a penalty point, which cost her the game, but an additional $10,500 in fines.
She later apologized, but it took several days.
I guess she needed to take a time out to think about what she had done wrong.
The L.A. Times also reported that this past Sunday night at the MTV Video Music Awards, Kanye West, 32, made a scene as he snatched the microphone from Taylor Swift, 19, in the middle of her acceptance speech for winning “Best Female Video.”
West then blabbered that Beyonce Knowles’s video should have won the award.
He later apologized to Swift and her mother, but still included that Knowles’s video was the best video.
Not a real apology in my book.
What minority celebrities need to take into consideration is that they are representing the black community every time they step out the door.
Not only do they look completely ridiculous acting out but beware that they are black, looking completely ridiculous: feeds the sterotype.
Fans look up to celebrities and they seem to forget that this fact.
It’s a shame that in just one weekend, we have two cases of verbal abuse by celebrities.
My advice to them is to remember to always think twice before opening your mouth because as a celebrity, cameras are always around.
