I am the faculty adviser. I teach English 98, college literary magazine editing.
What is the Myriad?
The Myriad is a creative arts journal that showcases students’ poetry, short stories and art work.
How can students become a part of the Myriad?
Students have two options. First, a student can enroll in the English 98 class and become an editor. By choosing this option, a student can decide what they want in the Myriad. The second choice is to submit poems, short stories, or e-mail art work to [email protected].
How often is the Myriad published?
The Myriad is published once a year in late May or early June.
Why did you choose to major in English?
I’ve always enjoyed reading literature, writing short stories and novels.
What’s the best part about being the faculty adviser for the Myriad?
I get to see all the great creativity.
What, in your opinion, motivates students to join the Myriad?
Students get to see their name in print and their work published. It really means something to them.
What can students gain from joining the Myriad?
Students will gain sense of how a magazine is run and how decisions are made for the literary journal.
How does the Myriad get noticed on campus?
The Myriad is distributed for free in three places. They can be found in the Student Activities Center, the library and Humanities Building.
What topics are popular among the students who submit their work?
Students write about their reflection on the population and poems that reflect diversity.
How is the Myriad funded?
It’s funded through the Humanties Division and The Foundation.
