Cal State Dominguez Hills will be launching a new tuition plan called Toro Tuition Pledge for incoming undergraduates looking to attend in the new year.
The plan will cover tuition and fees up to four years for qualifying first-time and upper-division transfer students starting in fall 2026.
The Union attempted to reach out to interim President Mary Ann Villareal and Media Relations Specialist Lilly McKibbin, but they were unavailable for comment.
However, El Camino College offers a similar program called the South Bay Promise Grant, which helps freshmen full-time students cover the cost of their first two years of enrollment.
“It’s great to see that our university partners are creating something similar,” Transfer Center Coordinator Rene Lozano said. “I think it makes sense for all public schools to try to offer, to the best of their ability, free tuition for our low-income students.”
Last year, 362 former El Camino College students transferred to CSUDH for the fall 2025 semester.
Lozano is very supportive of this financial plan as it is a benefit for many students.
“I think it’s the right thing to do for a state that is very expensive, to offer their students a free education,” Lozano said.
