Ongoing presidential search leads to a diverse candidate pool

The hiring process to find a replacement for President Dena Maloney, who will be leaving El Camino at the end of the year, has attracted a large and diverse pool of candidates.

Out of 39 candidates, 33 have met the minimum qualification for the position.

PPL Inc., a company that places potential education executives for California community colleges, has been tasked with finding the replacement for Maloney.

As of today’s Board of Trustees (BOT) meeting, the committee has narrowed the pool of applicants down to 11 candidates and three alternates.

The work of the committee will culminate on the week of March 29 to April 1, when they will present three to five finalists for the Board of Trustees to interview.

 

May 17 – The BOT will meet to select the next superintendent/president.

May 17 to June 14 – The BOT will negotiate and finalize terms for the appointment.

June 14 – The BOT appoints the next superintendent/president and makes a public announcement.

July 1 – The new superintendent/president begins their new position.
