UPDATE: Minor changes have been made to this story at 8:43 a.m.

Students got crowded in the library lawn, some of them were dancing to salsa music, others were experimenting with rocks, some students were eating donuts and some were singing; all of this happened during EC’s club rush.

El Camino College hosted club rush from Feb. 2 to 5, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m where Club reps will be available to recruit new members and provide information about their organizations,” according to the El Camino website.

Some of the clubs that EC has are the El Co salseros club, Black Student Union, Gay Straight Alliance and more.

Bella Abrego, 19, liberal studies major, member of the salseros said that during fall and last spring there were more people participating during club rush.

“This is around the time we actually see new faces, different faces instead of people in your class,” Abrego said. “It’s nice to see different people (and) meet different people.”

Another student Crista Zelaya, 20, psychology major, was part of the salseros, but got hurt. She was looking around to see if she could join another club.

“I like how many people support the school,” Zelaya said.
