Costume and pumpkin carving contests draw crowd to Library Lawn
Alpha Gamma Sigma (AGS) and the Auxiliary Services Board (ASB) hosted a costume contest and a pumpkin carving contest near the Library Lawn Thursday.
“The purpose of this is to create some student interaction,” Omar El Adlil, AGS president, said. “We want more students to get engaged with activities around campus.”
Several students participated in both the costume contest and the pumpkin carving contest. Some stopped to watch on the way to and from classes.
“I expect the contest to be pretty fun,” Ryan Moeller, 19, nursing major, said. “I don’t have anything else to do around this time so this costume contest is a perfect way to pass time.”
Students dressed up as characters from cartoons and TV dramas. For the pumpkin carving contest, students carved logos and happy faces.
