Two hours of hilarious jokes
Mix in bouncing breasts, groin smashing and outrageous twists on some of the recent popular movies and you get a hilarious witch’s brew of “Scary Movie 3”.
The movie succeeds at dishing out the comedy for an overall frightfully funny experience.
The plot is nothing special; it mainly serves to guide the audience to the next movie parody or funny situation, which is where the real enjoyment comes from.
The movie has a lot of low humor comedy, but who says that’s a bad thing?
Someone getting thrown out of a window, fist fighting with a dancing Michael Jackson and aliens urinating out of their fingers still make for a comical experience, even if it’s not considered intelligent humor.
However, when one has a movie full of jokes, there are cases when jokes seem to drag on and where the puns are too obvious.
Though this does not detract from the enjoyment of the movie, the sidesplitting jokes heavily out-weigh the lame ones.
The film relies a great deal on movie parodies, parodying not only chilling movies like “Signs” and “The Ring,” but also “The Matrix” and “8 Mile.”
Visually, many scenes look identical to the movies they are trying to imitate, from props to camera angle.
The evil video footage with the creepy, random black and white scenes from “The Ring” look very similar in the parody that happens in “Scary Movie 3,” except from a more humorous angle.
The crop circles in “Signs” seem less creepy when the parody in “Scary Movie 3” shows the alien’s message as an arrow pointing to a house with the words: ATTACK HERE.
But there is a difference in the third installment when compared to the previous “Scary Movie” films; the movie parodies seem to be more of the focus.
The preceding movies tended to go beyond parody for more original humor, such as the talking vulgar parrot from “Scary Movie 2.”
While original humor still exists in the third one, and the parodies are still executed excellently, it still lacks any humor to call its own.
The actors provide a great performance as outrageous characters in ridiculous situations.
Anna Faris returns as her airheaded and bumbling character, Cindy from the previous “Scary Movies.”
Charlie Sheen’s character, parodying Mel Gibson character in “Signs,” has some great jokes.
Comedy veteran Leslie Nielsen adds his usual charm to the flick.
Also, the many celebrity cameos, from Denise Richards to George Carlin, was a treat.
“Scary Movie 3” was meant to be a comedy; thus its score should depend on how funny it is.
It definitely scores high on laugh-o-meter.
It is a movie with a chain of mostly hilarious jokes and parodies from beginning to end with a goofy cast to lead us through these silly situations.
One should see this if he’s looking for anything beyond a good laugh; it delivers comedy on a scary scale.
