Old Tony's: Casual dining by the water
Among the Pacific Sea community of fisherman heaven, yachters and beach cruisers, stands a spot on the Redondo Beach Pier called Tony’s, originally Old Tonys.
In the dimly lit, wooden restaurant above the water, there is a calm ambience that sets the mood for casual diners, tourists and romantic couples to share a moment of serenity and good food.
Serving the travelers on the Pier since 1952, Tony’s family owned restaurant offers a wide variety of fresh fish that is brought in right below the deck of the restaurant.
Swordfish steak, red snapper, calamari, lobster tails, are just a few of fresh fish served at Tony’s along with great appetizers and sides like the coconut shrimp, Maryland style crab cakes and the original Tony’s own garlic cheese bread, the combination of a light toasted loaf of bread with the perfect measure of half of garlic and cheese makes for the perfect bread to snack on.
For those who desire to eat outside, a heat lamp set-up on the patio of the restaurant will keep one warm and comfortable.
One of their dishes, the shrimp scampi, was sautéed deliciously in just enough butter and garlic that made the shrimp slide right out the tail. The soup was an enjoyable side with nice, big chunks of clam and potatoes.
The seafood fettuccini alfredo, had the right amount of bay shrimp, large shrimp and crabmeat but could have used a bit more alfredo sauce.
Their dessert menu includes a raspberry white chocolate cheesecake which is described as a smooth white chocolate cheesecake swirled with red raspberry.
Tonys also has a bar located above the restaurant with views of the beach and near beaches.
With a great ambience, service, food and views, Tony’s is the place to go when you feel like spending money. The prices for appetizers range from $4-15 and regular courses $17-$30 but one will for sure get their money’s worth.
Tonys also has happy hour and entertainment nights where one can enjoy live music and great food at discounted prices.
