Warmed lunches are back on the menu at the Schauerman Library thanks to a donation by the Basic Needs Center.
The two Lorell microwaves, which are valued at $306 each, were installed in the Collaboration Room on the ground floor and in the Tutoring Center on the second floor in early March.
The three previous microwaves were removed due to damage caused from power surges and misuse.
In an article previously published by The Union, the Schauerman Library first opened in 1952, with renovations made in 1961, 1994 and 2008.
According to Schauerman Library staff, the main wing, which includes the Collaboration Room, are part of the original structure.
Library and learning resources specialist Erika Yates said the electrical outlets are some of the oldest parts of the library and doesn’t handle modern technology well.
“As long as nobody does anything weird [to the microwaves], we’re good,” she said.
