Live: Set-by-set coverage of women’s volleyball team’s State Semifinals match vs. L.A. Pierce College

Update: Dec. 3, 8:43 p.m. Warriors close out fourth set in 25-22 win to force set five

The El Camino women’s volleyball team forces a fifth set in the State Semifinals and Pierce looks tired.

Both teams are one set away from a State Championship berth.

EC is 4-0 in five-set matches this season.

Warriors are trying to make it to the state match for the first time since they won in 2008.

Pierce made it there last year and want to win it all this year.

Update: Dec. 3, 8:16 p.m. Warriors clench their fists and fight to finally take a set off Brahmas

El Camino needed a spark and the Warriors got what they needed.

After a tumultuous fight in the third set, they outlasted the Brahmas in a 25-21 set-three win.

Brahmas still lead 2-1 and are looking to punch their ticket to the finals.

Update: Dec. 3, 7:52 p.m. Brahmas take commanding 2-0 lead over Warriors

The Brahmas were down early but took a lead and kept the pressure after the errors piled up for the Warriors.

EC needs some magic to come back against the, now, top seeded team in the tourny.

Update: Dec. 3, 7:32 p.m. Warriors drop opening set to Brahmas in 25-14 loss

EC struggled to pass anything in the early stages and fell behind early and fell easily to the home team.

The Brahmas took advantage of the struggling defense and will look to do so again in the second set.

First look

After a dominating performance against the No. 4 overall seed and defending State Champions the El Camino women’s volleyball team is once track to face L.A. Pierce College in the semifinals.

The Warriors came out to Pierce last year and failed to advance to State Tournament after being swept by the Brahmas.

Tonight at 7 p.m. El Camino will be looking to avenge that loss against the No. 2 overall seed and tournament-host Pierce.

Pierce is coming off a devastating victory over the Sierra College Wolverines and will look to take a win to head to tomorrow’s State Championship match vs. the Fresno City College Rams.

EC will have to do what it did in the quarterfinals and get Micah Hammond and Taylor Brydon going.

Match begins at approx. 7 p.m.
