This past weekend the 10th Annual Black Caucus conference took place on campus.
Community college students from all over California convened to discuss issues concerning African American students and any other interested students.
The black caucus’ main goal is to raise awareness among students and to stimulate a conversation about community issues, in order for them to give back after they finish with their education.
The black caucus should be congratulated for helping build a dialogue among students.
If students are to be the future but have no understanding of the world around them, their communities will not flourish. That’s why the black caucus event was vital for the youth of today.
It inspired young people to finish their education in order for them to get involved in their community and to become aware of issues that are important.
As long as organizations like the black caucus are around, we can rest assured that today’s generation will be able to become tomorrow’s leaders.
