Javier Mejia

Javier Mejia, 33, sociology major: “I was finishing basic training in the Air Force. It was very intense because I was in the Air Force right when the war started back in 2000 to 2004. That was my time serving. It was pretty intense, I was gone from home for about three or four years. I was trying to do what I had to do to get through life. I probably wouldn’t have done anything differently. The sole purpose to join the military was to go to school, but unfortunately, war kind of kept that from happening. But I wouldn’t have changed anything, I just did what I had to do and got out. I hope to be helping out veterans because veterans are becoming more and more an issue. I just want to get in and start helping.”
