Breakfast is the most important meal of the day and at Sunny Donuts across from El Camino, all your essentials can be purchased for under $5.

Sunny Donuts has been at its Gardena location for 17 years, Caroline Quach, owners, said. Working from the stroke of midnight, Quach and her husband open Sunny Donuts at 4:30 a.m.

“We make everything here, everyday, ” Quach said. “The morning is definitely the most busy.”

The classic glazed doughnut and hot coffee combination is the most popular, and closely followed by the toasted bagel and cream cheese.

“I like Sunny’s because unlike the bagels at school, these are toasted at the time of order, and they are very generous with the cream cheese,” Lisa Brown, 22, English major, said. “When I need something quick but not fast food, this is where I go.”

Individual doughnuts are all under $1, and the larger pastries such as bearclaws or apple fritters, are under $2. To complete this meal, a large hot coffee for $1.50, and many other choices of drinks like milk or juice for $2 at most.

Next morning on a big day, instead of skipping breakfast, hit Sunny Donut’s for some carbohydrates and caffeine to perk you up.
