Police Beat Oct.19 – Oct. 23


 

El Camino College

Oct. 19, 2:38 p.m. An officer responded to the Facilities Department for a medical aid call. According to the report, a woman was walking along the permitter road when she possibly had a seizure and fell to the ground. Paramedics were called and transported her to an area hospital.

Oct. 19, 10:24 p.m. An officer responded to the police lobby for a theft report. According to the report, a student told the officer that someone stole items from the trunk of her car in Lot H. There were no signs of forced entry.

Oct. 20, 10:56 a.m. Officers responded to the Campus Deli for a fight. According to the report, several males were fighting outside the Campus Deli and one caller said that one of the males had a knife. Officers detained one male that witnesses said was involved in the fight. The other males left the area before officers arrived. Officers searched the detained man and found a knife in his pocket. The male with the weapon was arrested for possession of a knife on campus and was transported to Torrance police for booking. The male showed the knife and did not attempt to stab anyone. According to the report, the fight was over a female acquaintance and ECPD is attempting to locate the other two males.

Oct. 20, 5:30 p.m. An officer responded to Cafe Camino for a man who appeared intoxicated. According to the report, the officer contacted the man who was drinking a plastic bottle of wine. Officers ran the man’s name and discovered that he was listed as a missing person from Norwalk. Paramedics were called since the man suffered from multiple medical conditions. He was then transported to an area hospital and the Norwalk Sheriff’s station was notified of the man’s location.

Oct. 21, 11:06 a.m. A woman flagged down an officer in the lower section of Lot F. According to the report, the woman was crying and told the officer that her ex-boyfriend had just hit her and chocked her before leaving campus. The woman, who is a student, was not hurt. The officer called the ex-boyfriend, who is a student, and told him to come to the station to talk about the matter. The ex-boyfriend told the officer that he was just play fighting and that she pushed him too. The ex-boyfriend was arrested for battery and then transported to Torrance police for booking.

Oct. 21, 1:09 p.m. An officer stopped a vehicle that made an unsafe turn in the 16700 block of Crenshaw Boulevard. According to the report, the driver, who is a student, did not have a license. The officer issued the student a citation and had the driver leave the vehicle at the scene.

Oct. 22, 10:36 a.m. An officer responded to the Health Center for a medical aid call. According to the report, a male student told the officer that he was having suicidal thoughts. The student agreed to be self-committed to a hospital for a psychological evaluation. Paramedics were called and transported the student to an area hospital.

Gardena

Oct. 17, 10 a.m. A green waste trash bin was stolen from a house in the 15400 block of Gramercy Place.

Oct. 19, 6:06 a.m. A business in the 15900 block of Western Avenue was burglarized by unknown suspects. They took cash and a guitar amp.

Oct. 21, A restaurant in the 16000 block of Crenshaw Boulevard was burglarized. Unknown suspects opened a sliding glass door and took cash.

Oct. 22, 7:07 a.m. A blue 2006 Chevy Silverado was stolen from the 18100 block of Denker Avenue.

Oct. 23, 3:04 p.m. A bank in the 15600 block of Crenshaw Boulevard was robbed by a female suspect.

Torrance

Oct. 17, 1:39 p.m. A 1966 International pickup truck was stolen from the 16000 block of Glenburn Avenue.

Oct. 18, 2:22 a.m. An unknown suspect opened a sliding glass door to a home in the 16500 block of Chanera Avenue. A woman sleeping inside woke up to the unknown suspect standing over her as she slept. The suspect ran out of the home after she screamed.

Oct. 18, 9 a.m. An unknown suspect entered an unlocked vehicle in the 16300 block of Ardath Avenue. Taken was a laptop and USB drives.
