Police Beat May 23 – May 27

May 23, 3 p.m. Officers responded to the soccer field regarding a medical aid call. According to the report,17-year-old male, who was not a student, was participating in a soccer tournament and broke his right arm. Paramedics responded and transported the male to a local hospital. The soccer tournament was an approved event by the college.

May 26, 10:52 a.m. According to a report, an officer responded to the Health Center where a female student was experiencing severe abdominal pain. Paramedics responded to the Health Center and transported the student to a local hospital.

May 26, 11:50 a.m. An officer responded to the second floor of the Humanities Building for a medical aid call. According to the report, a female student was lying on the ground in the west hallway complaining of abdominal pain. The student said she was having extreme menstrual cramps. Paramedics responded and the student refused to be transported. The student called for a friend to pick her up and take her home.

May 26, 2:40 p.m. El Camino Police officers were working a plain clothes detail in order to apprehend a male suspect who had stolen approximately five bicycles in the last two weeks. According to the report, the plain clothes officers observed a male approach one of the bicycles in Lot A. Uniformed officers apprehended the suspect in front of Lot A near the drop-off zone. The suspect was arrested for petty theft and transported to Torrance Police for booking.The suspect was not an El Camino student.

May 26, 5:15 p.m. An officer responded to the police lobby regarding a burglary report. According to the report, a female student said that someone broke into her vehicle in Lot L. The student said that miscellaneous property was taken from her vehicle. The point of entry into the vehicle was the driver’s side door which did not close properly. A report was taken.

May 27, 11:49 a.m. A police cadet observed a suspicious subject loitering around the bicycle racks adjacent to the Administration Building. According to the report, the responding officers apprehended the suspect in Lot A. The suspect, who was not a student, was arrested for petty theft and transported to Torrance Police for booking. The bicycle was returned to the victim, who was a student.

May 27, 1:51 p.m. According to a report, an officer responded to the North P.E. Building regarding a medical aid call. A male staff member, who suffers from diabetes, was experiencing low blood sugar. Paramedics were called and treated the patient. The staff member declined to be transported to a hospital and resumed his duties.
