Police Beat Oct. 15-25

Oct. 25, 12:55 a.m. Officers were conducting a patrol, and found a male subject laying on the ground unconscious with his bike between his legs. When the subject woke up, he told officers he was on his way home but forgot where he lived. The suspect smelled of alcohol and appeared to be intoxicated. He was issued a citation for being drunk in public and was booked at Torrance PD.

Oct. 23, 10:30 p.m. A female student flagged down officers and told them that her car was broken into. She stated that she parked her car in Lot A on the around 6:20 p.m. When she returned at 10:10, her battery and stereo were missing.

Oct. 21, 10:38 a.m. Officers responded to the station regarding a theft report. A female student stated that she was standing on the sidewalk by the Chemistry Building when a unknown male subject approached from behind and took her iPhone from her. The suspect ran down Manhattan Beach Boulevard and grabbed a bike that was on the grass.

Oct. 21, 1:25 p.m. Officers responded to Lot D for a indecent exposure call. Three female students observed a passing vehicle with a male inside with his pants down to his ankles. He was masturbating while leering at the three students. The students were frightened and called police. The suspect fled the scene onto Crenshaw Boulevard and was later apprehended. He was driving on a suspended license and his car was impounded. He was booked at Torrance PD.

Oct. 20. 4:05 p.m. A bicyclist non-student in Lot L was seen with no headlights and was riding on the wrong side of the road. He refused to stop. Finally, after a struggle, he was arrested for resisting arrest. He was booked at Torrance PD.

Oct. 19, 11:30 p.m. Officers observed a vehicle with no headlights on the corner of Crenshaw Boulevard and 164th Street. After conducting a traffic stop, the police found that the four male non-students had been drinking heavily. A sobriety test was given and the driver exceeded the drinking limit. He was arrested and booked for being drunk in public. There was a minor in the car who was also drunk. The driver was cited for giving alcohol to a minor and was booked at Torrance PD.

Oct. 18, 8:45 p.m. Officers responded to a suspicious person call. There was a suspect seen loitering in the men’s locker room. Upon investigation, officers realized the suspect had been arrested the week prior for trespassing. He claimed he was in the lockeroom retrieving his property. He was issued a citiation for trespassing and disobeying a court order.

Oct. 17, 2:30 p.m. Officers responded to the station regarding a theft report. A female student had placed her property in the locker room on the first floor of the Art Building. When she returned at 4:30, the locker had been pried open and her stuff was gone.

Oct. 17, 1:40 p.m. Officers responded to the Humanities Building regarding a medical aid call. A female student had been walking down the steps from the the second level of the Art Building when she tripped and fell two steps down. She sustained a sprain ankle and was transported to the Student Health Center.

Oct. 17, 1:10 p.m. Cadets responded to the Bookstore regarding a theft report. Around 12:15, a female student had placed her laptop in one of the lockers. She placed a quarter in the locker but forgot to take out the key. She was inside of the bookstore for twenty minutes, then returned to find her stuff stolen.

Oct. 15, 10:30 a.m. Officers responded to the second level of the MBA Building regarding a medical aid call. A male student had experienced a seizure.

Oct. 15, 7:30 a.m. Officers responded to the northwest corner of Crenshaw and Mahattan Beach boulevards regarding a pedestrian collision with a vehicle. As a non-student was making a left turn at an intersection, a student had ran a red light and ran into crossing traffic and was hit. The victim complained of moderate back and neck pain but he refused to be transferred to an area hospital.
