Police Beat Oct. 3-15

Oct. 15, 7:30 a.m. Officers responded to a traffic collision on Manhattan Beach and Crenshaw boulevards. A student was crossing in the crosswalk onto campus and was struck by a vehicle and sustained minor injuries. She offered to seek medical attention on her own and was released.

Oct. 14, 11:45 a.m. Officers responded to a medical call regarding a female student who was having a seizure. The paramedics were notified and she was transferred to an area hospital.

Oct. 14, 9 a.m. Officers responded to the third floor of the Art Building. It was reported that two subjects had been smoking marijuana. Upon their arrival, they found the suspects by the pool. One ran and got away and the other was referred to the dean.

Oct 10, 7 p.m. Officers responded to a theft call on the second floor of the library. A student took a nap for twenty minutes. When he woke up he realized his phone was missing.

Oct. 10, 1:30 p.m. On the lower level of Lot F, officers observed four students inside a car with smoky windows. One of the officers observed a small amount of marijuana on on the console. Upon conducting a search, they found a loaded .22 revolver and a .280 semi-automatic in the trunk. The driver was arrested for possessing two firearms on a college campus.

Oct. 7, 9 p.m. to midnight. Officers conducted enforcement on the no skateboarding policy on campus. They issued twenty-four citations.

Oct. 7, 10:30 a.m. Officers responded to a medical aid call in the North Athletic Field regarding two soccer players colliding with one another. Upon arrival, victims seemed unstable and were transported to an area hospital.

Oct. 7, 9:55 a.m. Cadets were doing a patrol check by Lot F. They noticed a marijuana smell coming from one of the vehicles parked there. Upon checking, they discovered three students inside smoking with a small amount in the lap of the driver. The driver was issued a citation and directed to the Dean of Student Development.

Oct. 7, 8 a.m. Officers responded to the North Gym where a student had been playing basketball and had an elbow shoved in his face. The classmate was bloody upon arrival and was transported to an area hospital.

Oct. 6, 8 a.m. Officers responded a distress call by the north side of the library. There were complaints that a male non-student had no shoes, no shirt, and pants down to his ankles as he was walking around. He admitted to having psychological disorders when asked. He was escorted off campus and a trespassing notice was issued.

Oct 5, 9:30 a.m. Officers made a traffic stop on Crenshaw and Redondo Beach boulevards. The driver of the vehicle had a $26,000 warrant issued out of Hawthorne PD. He was issued a citation.

Oct. 4, 11:45 p.m. Officers were approached by a female by Lot A. She had asked if the cadets could give her a ride to Melrose. The officers ran her name and she came up as someone with bipolar disorder. She was picked up by an adult and taken to a medical facility.

Oct. 3, 6:20 p.m. Officers responded to a theft call. A student locked his bike on the bike rack on the east side of the Chemistry Building around 5 p.m. When he returned, his bike was gone.
