Police Beat Sept. 19-Oct. 3

Update: several entries from this week’s police beat have been corrected for clarity.

Oct. 3, 7 p.m. Officers responded to the station regarding a female student making a report earlier that day. Another female student came up to her and threatened to hurt her if she didn’t pay her back for some previous agreement. She stated she didn’t know where she is getting that information. The case will be referred to the Director of Student Development, a violation of student conduct will be enforced and a continued investigation will take place.

Oct. 3, 3 a.m. Officers spotted a car behind Dominoes Pizza after business hours. There was a male student who had two warrants out of Torrance. He was issued a citation and released.

Oct. 2, 5:35 p.m. While conducting a patrol check, officers recognized a student who had previously been banned from the campus due to previous crimes. The suspect and his twin brother had been court ordered to stay away from campus due to previous burglaries and thefts. He was transported and booked at the El Camino Police Station.

Oct. 2, 11:30 p.m. Officers conducted a traffic stop of a car with tinted windows by the Facilities Department. A female non-student was driving on a suspended license. She was allowed to park her car on a side street and was issued a citation to appear in court.

Oct. 2, 3 p.m. Officers saw a male riding his bike on the ramp leading to Lot L. When contacting the male rider, he was uncooperative by refusing a search and was non-compliant with the officers’ demands. After refusing a search, the non-student was issued a citation for obstruction of an officer and later released.

Oct. 1, 10:40 a.m. Officers responded to the Health Building. There was a female student who threatened to commit suicide. She was transported to Harbor-UCLA for further examination and treatment.

Sept. 30, 2 p.m. Officers responded to a medical aid call to the Health Center. A male student had fainted after a couple of puffs of his inhaler.

Sept. 30, 1 p.m. Officers were returning from a store across the street from Manhattan Beach Boulevard when they ran a license plate from a vehicle they observed at a stoplight. The car was reported stolen out of Inglewood. They followed the vehicle until back up came to perform a high risk stop. He was arrested and booked at the El Camino police station.

Sept. 29, 1:20 a.m. Officers observed a bike rider on the west side of campus with no head light. When asked about any contraband, the suspect admitted he was carrying a meth pipe and there was some residue in it left. He was issued a citation for a controlled substance and paraphernalia and he was released.

Sept. 23 11:30 a.m. Officers responded to the station regarding a theft report. At approximately 10:30 a.m., a male student locked his belongings in the P.E. locker room. An an hour later when he returned to class, the lock was missing and his cell phone was missing from the locker.

Sept. 20, 3 a.m. Officers stopped a bicyclist on Manhattan Beach and Crenshaw boulevards with no head lamps. He was a non-student and had two traffic warrants out of Torrance. He was issued a citation and released.

Sept. 19, 1:50 p.m. Officers were patrolling the second level of Lot H when they observed a fraudulent parking permit.
