Is Obama Just a Scapegoat?

Obama’s racial background holds him back from making a significant impact in politics, an impact far beyond being the first minority president. He, like many other elected officials, is just a scapegoat for the real issues at hand.

During the begin of his presidency, Obama’s racial origin was the main focus instead of bettering the economy. Besides begin seen as the “enemy”, the issues from the Bush administration he inherited helped crippled Obama’s popularity.

According to the textbook, The Future is Ours, Obama was victories due to the minority vote from 95 percent African-American, 67 percent Latino, and 66 percent of all other voters.

Even though Obama has greatly taken on all the heat from the president before him, he has also impacted the votes amongst minority groups and the youth vote because of him appealing to minorities because he is a product of a immigrant and mixed-race background.

Due to these differences, Obama was one of the first presidents to be questioned about his citizenship found in The Future is Ours. But as immigrants become citizens and their children assimilate into American culture many may begin to vote for issues that affected them and their families.

Nevertheless, these issues stay unsolved while the president is on heavy fire about topics that he cannot solve without the government’s backup in passing laws to better the nation.

Jeffrey Young from The Huffington Post says that a lot of people are not covered under the Obamacare laws, even though they are considered low-income. It is limited to helping low-income children, stay at home parents, pregnant women and people with disabilities.

Obamacare, like many other topics, has been the battleground for issues that are pulling the government apart. Instead of coming to a compromise or even grounds, the issues are causing people to shift their opinions about the president, not the government as a whole.

A survey done by the New York Times and CBS News in September showed that less than 10 percent said that Obama had failed to meet their expectations as president.

As citizens, having the last say should be for the betterment of the economy and society. Always vote for someone who will effectively keep their country in good hands. Never allow to be blinded by the wolf covered in sheep’s wool.

The more aware and informed Americans are to the topics that concern them as a citizen can only help the future of the nation.
