Some students are still choosing to take themselves out of school and are dropping out before transferring or achieving a degree or certificate.
While for some school is not the place for them, many who drop out are doing so before they really give it a chance.
School is not meant to be a walk in the park. To earn a degree, you need to put in the hard hours of studying, homework and test taking.
While some students may defend leaving school to obtain a full time job or start a business venture, they still shouldn’t settle.
Almost anyone is capable of earning a college education if they put some effort into it. It’s honestly a shame that some students are not reaching full potential.
Young people who think school is a waste of time should think about this: the average salary of a college graduate is approximately $52,000 according to EarnMyDegree.com.
Compared to the average salary of a high school graduate ($30,000) a college graduate earns almost double.
That extra $30,000 is not something that people should shrug off just because they don’t like to do homework or go to class.
Students at EC must recognize that the education they are receiving and the degrees they are working towards now will benefit them for the rest of their lives, and are worth the time it may take.
Futhermore, the satisfaction factor of earning a college degree after the years of hard work has to be much greater than that of getting a lower paying job that you are trapped in after one drops out.
Young people are simply lazy and don’t want to put the effort in to achieve results. This generation is based too much on immediate gratification.
Once young individuals realize the benefits of finishing school and earning a degree, dropping out will become a thing of the past.
