The issue:
Campus employees as well as students having bad attitudes toward one another.
Our stand:
Everyone should treat
each other better and kinder.
Rude comments and snide remarks are something that our campus can do without, whether it’s with our employees or students.
Both students and employees are at equal fault with acting this way and without common courtesy our campus will be filled with unnecessarily rude people who will make everyone’s job more difficult.
Through observations on campus, it has become apparent that students and employees alike are doing each other a disservice.
At various areas on campus such as the Writing Center, Library and Student Services, students and employees were both found to be treating each other unfairly at times.
The best way for everyone on campus to get along and work together more efficiently would be to have more respect for one another.
By keeping things more respectful when asking for help or information, both parties benefit from one another.
Showing common courtesy can actually make people want to be more helpful. People can find themselves trying harder for others if given a little more respect.
Students come here for an education, but having rude campus employees makes them feel apathetic toward achieving their goals when there are fewer workers who are willing to help them out. Employees on campus have their own problems and lives, which may be a reason why customer service is lacking at times.
We are all here for our own reasons, and the best way to make each of our experiences better would be to have a nicer attitude toward everyone.
The world itself has become more desensitized, causing more attitude between human beings.
When students feel comfortable in their college environment, they are more likely to find themselves getting involved with important issues involving EC and working alongside campus employees.
It has also been observed that campus employees are receiving rude treatment from students as well. Students tend to give rude comments and facial expressions when asking questions.
If students took a step back and realized how they are treating the people around them, maybe they could understand why some campus employees treat them the way they do.
People aren’t rude for no reason, which is why the only way everyone can receive fair treatment is to have common courtesy and appreciation for one another even if they are strangers.
