With so many things going on around the campus to stress students out, such as building construction detours, crowded classes and hard-to-find parking, students have now been granted an easier way of dealing with financial aid disbursements.
The Financial Aid Office is now offering students the opportunity to receive financial aid disbursements through a direct deposit system using the Sallie Mae Debit MasterCard.
The Sallie Mae Debit MasterCard is a program that is very simple and efficient to use. Students who receive financial aid and sign up for this program will have their disbursements, such as Pell Grants, sent directly to the student’s account. Also, students are protected by the MasterCard Zero Liability policy if the lost or stolen card is reported immediately, which means that the funds are protected.
For example, think of it as a gift card. Gift cards have money and can be used almost anywhere. They can also be reloaded.
So, when it is time for a new financial aid disbursement, instead of having to go to the Cashiers Office to get the check, the money will be deposited in the card through the direct deposit system.
With so many students filling the financial aid lobby asking for their money, sometimes financial aid staff tend to act grouchy because there are so many students asking for help and not enough staff to attend to their needs.
Using this convenient system of having more workers available to help will lessen the stress on the financial aid staff.
Since students most of the time are trying to avoid long lines, this is a great way to get money quicker.
Students no longer have to wait for processing, stand in lines for hours, have to wait for their check in the mail and go to the bank to deposit the check.
This will be a way to make student’s lives less complicated by having more financial aid staff available to the students. In this economy, students need all the help they can get.
These students will be able to receive help in filling out the many financial aid applications. Therefore, they will be able to fill out all the paper-work on time and have no trouble or delays in receiving financial aid disbursements.
