Before the plans to remodel the Social Sciences Building could be approved, the project is already being criticized for the potential problem that it might cause.

Some professors have been vocal about the proposed design of the building, implying that it may not be a suitable environment to foster an adequate relationship between students and their professors.

The new design calls for faculty offices to sit adjacent to the hallway instead of back from it as it believe presently is.

Faculty members feel that their offices will be so drowned out by the noise in the hallway that they will have no choice but to close their doors.

One professor expressed a concern that students will be reluctant to come for help during office hours because they will see that the door is closed.

If this design is problematic, then the planning committee should have asked the opinions of the professors.

After all, the students and the professors are the ones who will be using the building, and therefore, comfort should not be a quality that is sacrificed for the sake of class size.
