What is anthropology?
It’s the study of mankind. There are also many fields that deal with anthropology.

What’s the purpose of the anthropology club?
Different cultures bring us together. The people in the club make it fun and it broadens horizons.

What are your presidental duties?
I make sure everyone in the club has something to do. They e-mail and plan field trips like going to the L.A. Zoo.

When did you become president?
I just became president of the anthropology club this semester. I was vice president in fall 2007.

What skills does it take to handle this position?
You must have compassion, patience and good speaking abilities.

Is the work intense?
People usually are helpful. It’s fun and I learn stuff along the way. It’s pressure, but it’s not unwanted pressure.

Why should students join the anthropology club?
We participate in a lot of things. We volunteer for a lot of activities on campus like the Blood Drive and Pow Wow. We host potlucks during the meetings and have fundraisers.

How can someone benefit from joining the anthropology club?
It helps you with everything. You also become a well-rounded student and you can participate in a symposium.

How can students find out more about the club?
They can talk to the anthropology professors, talk to me or go to Room 334 in the Art Building Tuesdays and Thursdays at 1 p.m.

Is the club hosting any special events soon?
We’re going to host Potluck Indiana Jones, Garage Sale, International Food fair, Student Symposium and travel to the Gibbon Conservation Center and L.A. Zoo.

What can students expect to see when the anthropology museum is finished?
They will see Polynesian Studies and pictorial photos that exhibit current changes in China.
