Editorial: Procrastination ends club road trip

Anticipation of the approval of the board of trustees is currently filling the hearts of the members of The Native American Club.

The club has hopes of attending the annual Gathering of Nations Pow Wow in Albuquerque this weekend, but to get there in time, they would have to leave tomorrow morning.

Because the board has been approving it for two years in a row, the members thought it would be fine to submit their request to use EC’s van and a gas card just seven weeks ago.

However, that was not early enough.

EC students should have the unconditional right to make use of EC property as long as they promise to have liability of damages. Unfortunately, this was not enough to get the club immediate approval of the vans.

The club has even agreed that they will be responsible for their own medical attention if the needs arise.

As it turns out, they will now have to pay for their own expenses, which will end up costing them quite a bit.

One would think that the understanding of the importance of one’s passion, culture and religion would be the priority of such a diverse campus as EC.
