Mena
Is Tap Water Safe?
3/19/2008
Name: Jose Vasquez
Age: 24
Major: Music and Theater
“No, because it depends on the faucet. If it’s rusted on the opening, that’s not good. The water plants probably do not purify the water effectively and that’s why I’ll stick to bottled water.”
Name: Brian Wolf
Age: 18
Major: Business
“No, because the water does not come from the mountains it may be okay to drink but I’d rather not drink it. It doesn’t taste very good and I have other alternatives. Even if I had to, I would not drink it.”
Name: Mian Ahtisham
Age: 19
Major: Nursing
“No, because the water is going though so many processes you don’t know what is in it. I prefer to consume bottled water because I think that it has been properly purified. I trust bottled water quality.”
Name: Desirae Brazil
Age: 19
Major: Animation
“No, because it’s dirty. I think they reuse toilet water here in Los Angeles County. They decided that without the public’s consent so I’ll stay with bottled water.”
Name: Alicia Bartow
Age: 20
Major: First Grade Teacher
“Yes, because I’ve always drank it and it’s treated before you can access it. There is even fluoride content in the water. Tap water has a different taste because it’s treated differently than bottled water. People just need to do their research.”
Name: Jacob Qureshi
Age: 19
Major: Undecided
“No, but I haven’t done my research to make up an educated opinion about it. I heard there was a big controversy in New York where drugs were found in the water. I prefer to drink bottled water until I can look into the safety of tap water further.”
Name: Chelsey Yonemoto
Age: 18
Major: Fashion Merchandising
“Yes, because I have not been negatively affected from drinking tap water. I don’t drink it all the time, only if I’m really thirsty. If tap water is not proven to be harmful through statistics, then there is no reason to not drink it.”
Name: Luc St.Leger
Age: 25
Major: Film
“No, because ever since the issue arose that it might not be safe, I stopped drinking it. It’s unfair that this just came up recently. Now people are afraid to drink tap water and prefer bottled water because contaminates where found.”
Name: Samantha Lopez
Age: 18
Major: Child Development
“No, because there is a lot of metal in the pipes. I don’t drink tap water, I prefer bottled water. There are a lot of chemicals in tap water so I won’t drink it no matter how much it’s been treated.”
Name: Jessica Cyrus
Age: 18
Major: Psychology
“No, because I don’t think that it’s run through filters all the time. The fact that it may be dirty even after the process motivates me to keep buying bottled water.”
Name: Miguel Mercado
Age: 21
Major: Business
“Yes, if there is no other alternative. If you can find something cleaner, perhaps purified, then that would be better.”
