After President Donald Trump signed the National Defense Authorization Act on December 18, 2025, it authorized an automatic registration for the military that will begin in December 2026. Males between the ages of 18 and 25 are required to register, but this does not guarantee that all who register will be selected. One of the procedures the Selective Service System will be in charge of is “Workforce Optimization”, which includes a twelve-month early headcount, field preparation and controlled hiring systems to ensure males who enlist are ready to be on the front lines.
