Torrance and Redondo Beach residents can now apply to become a member of the El Camino Community College District Board of Trustees.
El Camino College is looking to appoint a provisional board member to represent Area Five following trustee Cliff Numark’s resignation Tuesday, Nov. 11.
“Our goal is to get someone seated by Dec. 18,” ECC Director of Public Information Kerri Webb said.
The Board now has 60 days to appoint a new representative who will finish Numark’s term in November 2026.
Webb expressed a need to have someone in the seat before the Jan. 11, 2026, deadline.
However, because the date falls on a Sunday, the deadline is now anticipated to be Friday, Jan. 9.
Applicants must be a registered voter who is 18 years old or older and a resident of Area Five, which covers Torrance and parts of Redondo Beach.
In addition, according to ECC’s website, they must not be “disqualified by the California State Constitution or other state laws.”
Current employees at ECC and those holding public office are also disqualified unless they resign.
Numark, who has served on the board since 2013, announced his resignation during a board meeting Tuesday, Oct. 27.
He cited his leave to a move to Florida, where he will be serving as president and CEO of One Blood Inc., a non-profit organization that provides blood donations to hospitals.
The deadline to apply online through the college website is Friday, Dec. 12, at 4 p.m.
