Sociology instructor Mediha Din received the 2014 Outstanding Adjunct Faculty Award during today’s Academic Senate meeting.

Din was recognized for her “instructional excellence, a commitment to student learning, and dedication to the El Camino College Mission,” according to an email from Senate Vice President of Faculty Development Kristie Daniel-DiGregorio.

“It is extremely encouraging to be recognized for the work we do to help students,” Din said in an email. “Very few other community colleges recognize their adjunct faculty in this wonderful way.”

Din will receive a $500 cash award, Daniel-DiGregorio said at an Academic Senate meeting last month.

According to Daniel-DiGregorio’s email, Din is also a mentor for Project Success and is the adviser of the Muslim Student Association.
