The summer break is upon the students and faculty but a break from academics isn’t always the best idea.
Students and teachers cheer silently as they finish finals week and grades are posted; it’s a sign that the stress from school is far away and summer is now here.
“I just want school to me over,” Rebecca Bangura, 20, nursing major said.
Summer is just around the corner, so what can individuals do with their free time from school? Planning some get togethers and vacations can help people stay active during this break.
“Of course I have school sadly, but I plan on going to the beach a lot and plan on going out with my friends and stuff during the summer,” Bangura said.
While staff members begin setting up lesson plans for next semester, many are planning trips with students for abroad learning.
Many campus departments at EC are having trips planned by different professors for abroad learning around California and to other countries that are posted in classrooms, around campus and halls.
During the break many students will be traveling outside of the city, state and country. According to hercampus.com, there are plenty of dream vacation spots for college students to go to during the break.
Commonly students use the summer break to party and hangout with friends in hopes to release all the stresses of the long school year.
“I don’t know what to do for summer, I’ll just relax and let things happen. Or maybe go to Vegas. I don’t know,” Cristian Amezcua, 21, double major, said.
According to College Board.com, students should stay productive during the summer time finding ways to better their career and future. Thus meaning “NO BREAKS.”
For many students, college is their job so preparing with internships, brushing up on reading and studying can only help them stay sharp when school is back in session.
It is important to relax but always keep in mind that staying proactive is a must when it comes to educational knowledge. Getting away from school is good way to gather and refresh the mind but always have tricks to keep from losing important information that is needed when school is back in session.
“I will be shopping, reading books, and going to shows this summer,” Pi Talak’O, 20, Chinese major said. “Performing in shows and reading dictionaries to help keep my mind right. But I need a vacation from school sometimes.”
