Anger Management Workshop at Student Health Center

Have you ever been aggressively pissed off or do you belive you have literally gone mad? If indeed this is the case then the ECC Health Center is holding an anger management workshop today at 4p.m. that may be able to help you.

“The Health Center will be having a workshop on anger management, Thursday, Nov. 18 at 4p.m.,” Debbie Conover, Health Services Coordinator said.

This anger management workshop will be led by our very own Sally Emery, Ph. D., here at ECC, Conover said.

“Doctor Sally Emery has a history with other colleges such as UCLA and has spent some time working with the issues of anger management,” Conover said.

Emery has 20 years experience here at ECC; working with us on our workshops,” Conover said.

“I took an anger management class before, it was good and helpful. They give you coping skills, and meditation skills to help you calm down and deal with situations so you don’t react,” Stacy Reid, 18, undeclared, said.

The workshop has two different dates, the next one after today’s is in December, Thursday December 2 at 6p.m., Conover said.

“What we find is we like to schedule a couple of them because throughout the semester students, maybe in the beginning, don’t have anger but as they start moving towards midterms and finals their anger levels go up,” Conover said.

Some instructors even go as far as to accept extra-credit for attending various workshops held at the Health Center, Conover said.

“Anger is bad but anger management is good,” Reid said.
