For some students, clothes and fashion is a form of self expression. It can tell a bit about themselves and their personality. However, when expressing oneself through clothes, does less equal more?
So how much skin is too much skin for women?
“If she’s a good girl or if she doesn’t care about how people view her is how I’m going to view her,” Bobby Watts, 21, physical education major said. “If you’re a good girl you shouldn’t be all a– out if you want my respect.”
Over time women’s clothing began to change. Clothes became more form fitting, shorter and flashy according to Random History.com; but if women choose to wear short clothing why should they be victimized or seen as “whores” or “loose” based off of depictions that may not even be true.
Society sets the standard for what is ok and not ok when it comes to showing skin. What’s the big deal, we are all born naked. Everyone has nipples, a butt, a stomach and legs. Everyone has the right to express themselves through fashion whether it’s wearing little to no clothes at all.
Well lots of individuals see what a person is wearing first and notice their heart second, and still we are told to “Cover Up!” Ladies cover up those twins and men keep your shirts on. Because when people see you they are not looking at your mind they are looking at your body. That is true.
In an article done by Cosmopolitan, Men notice a womans’ body before they see her eyes and try to look into her mind.
More so, many men look at woman by their clothes. They use this to put the women they see in one of two categories “Wife Material” or a “H–.” Ladies most men that stop you 9 out of 10 times do not want to be just your friend.
Watts said that what women wear puts them in categories from first glance. Regardless if she is a sweet girl or not the first impression and how they present themselves plays a part in their placement as a potential girlfriend or a friend with benefits.
According to a podcast on Scientific America.com, men are more attracted to their female friends then the girl is with them.
Attraction is based off of the eye, not every man who converses with a female wants to have a friendly conversation, walk on the beach and sweet talk every female they encounter.
Somehow there will always be the one guy that tries and fails but wants to be “friends.” For what? Attraction to what you see instead of wanting to get to know the other individual, will get you caught in a mess of games. Her dress should never override her mannerism as a young lady, she’s young. Stated by many people “If you got it flaunt it,” so ladies strut your stuff. It does not have to deal with the way women wear their cloths, just in the way people respond.
“It’s all in the way you present yourself,” Cramer said. “If your a lady dress like one. If not you will be seen as meat and it will only attract the dogs cause dogs like meat.”
In a sense, all women deserve to be treated like ladies even if standards say otherwise. Never judge a book by its cover because it may give knowledge of what you do not understand; that’s why one mustn’t judge a woman for her clothing choice, it doesn’t make her less of lady because she is wearing less material.
