It’s Friday night and the campus is dark and mostly empty when Anthony Tanori and Ken Galan, police officers, begin their shift.
“I love my job, with all the risk. And I would never change that,” Tanori said.
During a typical night patrol, Tanori pays attention to everything that looks suspicious.
For example, cars parked in the poorly-lit area of the parking lot, or people walking on campus during the night.
“We are always checking who they are and what they are doing on campus,”Galan said. “Sometimes they don’t have an ID, but we can check their identification by taking their fingerprints on-site and sending them to the database. In a few seconds, we have all information.”
Not only is the campus patrolled, but the surrounding area too, like Alondra Park is monitored. There is a large cluster of homeless people and drugs dealers there.
“We keep all suspicious people coming from the Alondra Park away from the campus for safety of all students and personnel” Tanori said.
