Musical satire to entertain
“The Capitol Steps” group will be performing a musical satire on the upcoming November elections. This program will surely entertain as the group lampoons the candidates and other famous public figures. It will take place at the James R. Armstrong Theater at 3330 Civic Center Dr. in Torrance tomorrow and Saturday at 8 p.m. Tickets are $40.
Drama, culture at art festival
The 2004 Art’s Alive Festival will be taking place this weekend at the James R. Armstrong Theater.
This is the 11th annual festival where you can enjoy cultural entertainment, theatrical performances and art demonstrations. The festival will be from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and is free for the whole family.
Music sounds envelop EC
Antonio Pompa-Baldi, praised as the “pianistic messiah,” will be performing at Marsee Auditorium. He has won the 2001 Van Cliburn International Piano Competition with a silver medal as well as the Phyllis Jones Tiley Memorial Award for best performance of a new work.
He will be performing Friday, Oct. 15 at 8 p.m. Tickets are $26 and $22.
Cinema series seeks Monaco
The World Travel Adventure Cinema Series will be exploring “The Alps” in a film of beautiful mountainous scenery. Visit the “Riviera of Flowers” and the palaces of Monaco, which lie at the foot of Europe’s great mountain, the Alps.
The film will be shown at Marsee Auditorium Monday, Oct. 18 at 3 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $6 for general admission and $5 for students, children and senior citizens with ID.
