In an effort to spread awareness on the consequences of driving under the influence, El Camino will sponsor its 16th Annual South Bay DUI Awareness Fair on Wednesday, Oct. 26 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m on the EC Library Lawn.
The DUI Awareness Fair is free and open to the public and is specifically designed to “increase community awareness” about driving under the influence, according to a press release from the EC Public Relations and Marketing Department.
The fair will feature interactive demonstrations where students can maneuver golf carts through a course, while wearing special “DUI Goggles” that simulate being under the influence and “affect reflexes and impair judgment,” according to the press release.
A new device called the “marijuana impairment” goggles will be added to the list of demonstrations for this years event as well, according to the press release.
A real “crash car” that was involved in an alcohol-related death will be parked on campus to offer visual impact to the students as they observe the consequences of driving under the influence, according to the website.
For more information on the fair, call the El Camino College Police Department at (310) 660-3100.
