The Writing Center is known all around campus for its phenomenal ability to turn a boring, poorly-written essay into an exciting A paper.
The Writing Center can help you with all aspects of essay writing, from making an outline to putting the finishing touches on your works cited sheet.
The Writing Center also offers help with writing assignments outside of school, like job applications.
Students have no excuse for not maximizing their writing potential because the Writing Center is open all day and there are tutors to help if you come down with a case of writer’s block.
Though the Writing Center has had to make some changes for the fall semester due to budget cuts and the swine flu, these changes should not negatively affect students in any way.
One thing that has changed is that the Writing Center no longer offers online tutoring due to the budget cuts that EC is facing. But for most of us, online tutoring wasn’t the same as the real thing.
Its absence will surely draw in more students to Writing Center providing them with a one-on-one environment.
Another policy change is that students are no longer required to give the attendants their student IDs.
This policy change was put into effect to prevent the spread of germs in the event of a swine flu outbreak on campus. This new policy is not only smart, but also gets rid of an inconvenience to both students and writing center faculty.
Now rather than waste time with IDs, students can get in and out by just letting the attendants know when they’re done and what computer they were using.
These policy changes in no way affect the way the Writing Center is run or its ability to help students with their writing assignments.
Teachers love when students utilize the Center because their written assignments improve with every visit because they are being helped with grammar, Modern Language Association format and structure. Some teachers even offer extra credit to students who use the Writing Center be cause it makes their life easier when grading papers, and they know it will benefit the student in both the long and short term.
The Writing Center offers more than a place for students to write and get help with their papers. Free workshops are offered to help familiarize students with certain aspects of paper writing.
The Writing Center’s new policy changes do not hamper student’s effectiveness to become better writers and are beneficial to the campus community.
