Going green seems to be the new trend these days and Associated Student Organization president Megan McLean revealed that the EC campus will as well as ASO prepares to jump start the 2008 fall semester with new ideas.
“We are very optimistic; we have some good officers. Our staff is very excited and Megan is very responsive,” Harold Tyler, director of student services said.
ASO had their first meeting last Thursday where they discussed committee formation and proposed ideas for this semester.
“Encouraging people to register to vote, and to vote is important,” Tyler said.
On Sept. 17, ASO will have a meet and greet where students will be able to get to know their ASO representatives .
In celebration of Constitution Day, ASO will be handing out pocket constitutions on and encouraging voter registration.
“Some people don’t know we have an ASO and (don’t know) where we are,” McLean said.
She also revealed that EC campus maybe going green soon with help from the Recycling Coalition and become more eco-friendly due to students demand for more environmental consciousness on campus.
“Soon we’re going to have temporary bins to try it out to see if it affects student’s choice (to recycle),” McLean said.
Students have requested recycling bins this past year and if the temporary bins work out for the campus, EC will receive permanent recycling bins.
“There has been high demand for a new form of recycling; students have not been happy (and) it would only be good for our campus since we are going green,” McLean said.
